The first selection for spring semester 2020 is complete. The total number of accepted applicants has increased with nearly 5 per cent compared to the previous record of 223,482 for spring semester 2019. Even the number of qualified applicants increased with nearly 5 per cent, a new record – 230,420 compared to the previous record of 223,482 for spring semester 2014.


The Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) reports that approximately 187,000 applicants were accepted to a higher education course or programme for the spring semester. Compared to the first selection for spring semester 2019, this is an increase of 8,194 applicants (4.6%), from 179,354 to 187,548 for spring semester 2020. The total number of qualified applicants increased by 10,534 (4.8 %), from 219,896 spring semester 2019 to 230,430 spring semester 2020.

Please note: The total number of applicants at the time of the first selection spring semester 2020 was 258,096. Applicants that only applied for cancelled courses and programmes have not been included.

Dates for admission to spring semester 2020

UHR published selection results on Antagning.se and Universityadmissions.se on 10 December.

On 16 December, UHR published an analysis of the results of the first selection for spring semester 2020 on Uhr.se (in Swedish).

After the second selection on 19 December, those applicants on the waiting list will be notified if they have been offered a place in the course or programme they applied for.
