Ordinance on trials of a general entry test for access to higher education (2018:1510)

Section 1

A person who does not meet the general entry requirements for higher education that begins in the first cycle must, as part of trials to be conducted in 2022-2023, have the opportunity to sit a general entry test to demonstrate they have the necessary competence to meet the general entry requirements under Chapter 7, section 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100).

Section 2

The Swedish Council for Higher Education is responsible for producing and implementing the test and determining its results.
The test must be conducted on one occasion in the second half of 2022 and on one occasion in the second half of 2023. Ordinance (2021:925).

Section 3

All higher education institutions that are subject to the Higher Education Act (1992:1434) must use the same general entry test.

Section 4

Only a person who has turned 24 or will turn 24 in the calendar year in which the test is conducted may sit the general entry test.
The Swedish Council for Higher Education may decide that a given maximum number of participants may sit the test during its trial period.
Decisions on the allocation of places for the tests must be made on an objective basis. Ordinance (2021:925).

Section 5

The Swedish Council for Higher Education’s decision on the test result may not be appealed.

Section 6

The Swedish Council for Higher Education may issue further regulations about these trials.

Transitional provisions

2018:1510

  1. This ordinance enters into effect on 1 January 2022.
  2. This ordinance ceases to apply at the end of 2023.
  3. However, a pass on the general entry test will remain valid after the end of 2023.
