Department/Agency: Ministry of Education and Research, Sweden Issued 22 December 2010 This version contains amendments up to and including the Act on Amendment of the Ordinance on admission to programmes leading to the award of a Higher Education Diploma in Vocational Education SFS 2012:733. The translation is not an official translation.
The Government stipulates as follows.
Area of application
This ordinance contains the regulations on admission to first-cycle programmes that lead to the award of a Higher Education Diploma in Vocational Education as laid down in Annex 2 of the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100).
The Higher Education Act (1992:1434) and the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100) shall apply to admission to the programmes unless otherwise provided by this ordinance.
Specific entry requirements
Section 4 of this ordinance lays down the specific entry requirements to programmes instead of the provisions on specific entry requirements in Sections 8–11 and 25 of Chapter 7 of the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100).
A person who by virtue of work experience, higher education or other tertiary education have acquired advanced and relevant vocational expertise meets the specific entry requirements for programmes leading to the award of a Higher Education Diploma in Vocational Education.
The Swedish Council for Higher Education may issue more detailed regulations on the vocational expertise that is advanced and relevant.
The provisions on waiving one or more entry requirements in Section 3 of Chapter 7 of the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100) also apply to the entry requirements laid down in this ordinance. (Ordinance 2012:733).
In selecting applicants their qualifications and capacity to benefit from a programme are to be taken into account. Instead of the provisions on selection in the second and third paragraphs of Section 12 and Sections 13–19, 23, 26 and 27 of Chapter 7 of the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100), a university or university college may lay down which selection criteria are to apply.
Entry into effect and transitional provisions
This ordinance enters into effect on 15 January 2011 and shall apply for the first time to admission to courses and study programmes that begin after 31 May 2011.
This ordinance enters into effect on 1 January 2013.
