Regulated education

A regulated education is an education programme designed specifically for a certain profession and overseen by the government in some way. In Sweden, education in upper secondary schools vocational programmes, in higher vocational education and professional qualifications from higher education are regulated.

Whether or not your profession is regulated in the country you come from affects the processing of your application in the country where you wish to work, if the profession is regulated there.

  • If your profession isn't regulated in the country you're from, the responsible authority in the country in which you wish to work can require you to document you've worked in that profession for one year.
  • If your profession is regulated in your home country, this rule doesn't apply.
